A wave of Water Festivals!
Publié le 28 juin 2018

The summer term is a busy time for Water Explorers here in the UK. Not only are our teams completing lots of Challenges, they're also planning and running their Water Festivals. Water Festivals are a great way to have some fun and celebrate your Water Explorer journey and share the knowledge you've gained. The aim of each Water Festival is to spread the water-saving message to as many people as possible, encouraging them to value water and adopt behaviours which will reduce wasted water!

This year two of our teams decided to make their Water Festivals all about Secret Water. Corbridge Middle School and Monkspath Junior and Infant School both held fashion shows, with Corbridge students modelling an array of very stylish second hand clothes available to be swapped, and Monskpath students modelling their upcycled creations, including tie dye t-shirts and tote bags made from old clothes. What brilliant ways to save water and raise awareness!

Redfield Educate Together Primary Academy held their Water Festival on World Oceans Day. They held an assembly where they explained why this day was so important, and then organised a whole range of activities for students and parents to try out, from guessing how much secret water is in everyday objects, to upcycling old clothes and writing pledges.

Meanwhile, in Scotland Chirnsyde Primary combined their Water Festival with sports day.  They set up different water-themed stalls including a smoothie bike where students used their maths skills to work out how much secret water they were using, and a stall to raise money for toilet twinning.

With lots mor Water Festivals in the diary, we can't wait to see what else our Water Explorers get up to! If you're planning an activity to share your Water Explorer work with your school, send us an email at schools@waterexplorer.org and let us know!
