Whilst surfing the internet about hidden water in food, some students came across ‘Meat Free Mondays’.  The idea is to promote responsible active citizens.

Launched by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney in 2009, Meat Free Monday is a not-for-profit campaign which aims to raise awareness of the detrimental environmental impact of eating meat, and to encourage people to help slow climate change, preserve precious natural resources and improve their health by having at least one meat free day each week.

Quite a good number of UK schools are taking part in this initiative.

Our students were really impressed and they decided to make a Meat Free Lunch day on Friday 15th of June.   Two classes participated in this activity where in their lunchboxes, different fruits and vegetables replaced the usual ham, salami and others.  This challenge also helped to promote the idea of a healthier lifestyle.  Eventually, more classes will be invited to take part and hopefully we are aiming in introducing the ‘Meat Free Day’ at least once a month from the next scholastic year.
